Jhardae's Term 1 Reflection

The thing I enjoy most about Term 1 is Tech  because, I love cooking.

I learnt how to make a Sponge Cake at Tech because,we were learning how to do cooking at home.

I found the IKAN Test a bit tricky because there were some hard question and you only got a certain time.

My favourite subject in Term 1 is maths because, I love solving algorithm problems.

I would like to improve on my Writing.

I have really enjoyed Tech this term because, we have been cooking delicious treats.

Mengchun's Reflects on Term 1

The thing I enjoyed most about term 1 is art and maths, because it was really easy.  I learnt how to ask people how are you in Maori. It was tricky reading with my buddy in Room 4, because she wouldn't talk.  My favourite thing was going to food tech, because we get to eat all the food we made.  I'd like to improve the way we did maths because some groups didn't get much time with the teacher. I'm looking forward to learning Japanese next term.

Shaylah's Term 1 Reflection and Collage

I Enjoyed all of the activities/things we did this term, because mostly everyone got involved and that were lots of fun!!. I learned how to add decimals and improper fractions and mixed fractions together, Because I had the best teacher in the world how had given up her time to teach her group. the trickiest thing I had to do/Learn was when I had to stand up in front of the class and say my Cook Island mihi, Because I was really nervous and I spoke loud and fast. My favourite subject this term was Art because It fun and It shows your emotions when you do some Art. I would like to improve on my maths in term 2. I mostly enjoyed in tech this term was baking Apple Crumble. Because it was very fun and I got to learn from doing this Activity. 

Own Culture Mihi

We used our Maori mihi as a template to write a mihi from our own culture or country. It was important to speak to our family and get assistance in pronounciation and correct grammar.

Duffy Assembly

Today we had Shavaughn Ruakere as our duffy role model at our Duffy Assembly. Her message was that is important to read. We were the first school she has visited so we hope we made her feel welcome.

Famous Person from my Culture

I researched a famous person from my culture. We were learning the importance our culture plays in helping determine who we are.

Family Art

Our topic this term is all about us. We discussed this and decided that their are many facets that help determine who we are. One of these are our families. Our art represents images of members of our family.

Where we come from

This is our class culures and places of origin.It is interesting learning all about the cultures in the classroom.

Graham Dodd

Graham Dodd visited the school. We learnt how to create a landscape drawing. Our theme fitted into our topic well. Our theme was NZ in the past and NZ today.

Writing recrafting

We worked on recrafting in Writing. The class discussed ways to improve our writing. Then we all had an opportunity to make changes to a piece of writing we had done previously. It was great working collaboratively on this task.

Taukana Teine

This is our Taukana Teine time. We use our key competency of relating to others to work with the new entrants and year 1 class. This week we were reading with some of our buddies and helping others to complete work and publish it to their class blog. Please have a look at their blog.

Music

We are learning to play different musical instruments. Mrs Eeles lets us rotate around the classroom so that we have a turn on all the instruments. It is interesting learning and listening to the different notes on different instruments.

Japanese
